Chinese President Xi Jinping should expect some conversation regarding cyber-security when he visits U.S. President Barack Obama next month.

120531_china_flagObama is scheduled to play host to Xi next month at the White House to discuss a variety of issues. On Wednesday, Reuters reported it is highly likely the matter of cyber-security and China’s sometime questionable Web activity will be discussed.

China’s cyber-attacks have been in the news recently as Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker called on Obama to cancel the visit. Walker said China’s cyber-attacks against the United States should be enough to prompt the president to not meet with his Chinese peer.

“Rather than honoring Chinese President Xi Jinping with an official state visit next month, President Obama should focus on holding China accountable over its increasing attempts to undermine U.S. interests,” Walker told The Hill.

Part of that includes the massive breach at the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM). That attack resulted in information on 22 million people being vulnerable.

CNN reported U.S. director of national intelligence James Clapper pointed to China as the “leading suspect” in that breach. He went on to say if the United States had accessed information on Chinese government servers it, too, would like follow through and attempt the breach.

Regardless, Obama has shown no signs of canceling his meeting and the White House has said cyber-attacks and cyber-security will “no doubt” be part of the talks between the two leaders.
